India-Africa Collaboration in Agriculture: Opportunities and Challenges

Countries in Africa and Asia can benefit from science and technology innovations and markets through South-South collaborations. India for instance has a growing and diversified seed sector. With similar agro-climatic and socio-economic conditions, a numbers of technologies especially improved tropically-adapted that can benefit African farmers. This collaboration is a win-win position for both India and Africa. To facilitate dialogue, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) organized a meetings from October 2013 organized the International conference on India-Africa Agriculture Cooperation forum on Tuesday, 6 October 2015 in Hyderabad. Specialists from India, USA, and a number of African countries as well as the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) agency shared their experiences and insight on the topic.
